Project
The aim of this development by the Rooney Holdings was to provide new premises for PGG Wrightson’s Timaru Rural Supplies store and PGG Wrightson’s Timaru Water division on one site in Washdyke.
PGG Wrightson’s Timaru Rural Supplies provide products and services to support local farmers and growers and the South Canterbury community. This new purpose‐built 1441m² complex combines the store, warehouse including freezer facility, and office under one roof. Canopies for the drive-through and the loading zone serve as undercover areas for weather-protected product handling. With the 399m² retail area displaying the wide product range and 300m² modern offices, this building gives customers an enhanced experience and employees a save and spacious working environment.
PGG Wrightson Water offers a complete service for water and irrigation needs to farmers and horticulturists in the region and this building sits to the east on the site behind the retail outlet. The brief was to construct a multiuse building to fit engineering and administrative purposes. Thompson designed a building that houses two 100m² workshops with roller door access for fabrication, projects and repairs. Alongside the workshops is a 63m² store and an office complex including reception, offices, a meeting room and staff facilities.
The 7116m² large site on SH1 allows for easy vehicular access and offers ample car parking spaces for customers and suppliers. It gives PGG Wrightson’s a practicable base for their regional business in South Canterbury and the wider region.
