Project
Long Lane Farm’s new carrot wash facility in Rakaia is a stand out project for Thompson this past year. It’s a great example of on farm efficiency – washing approximately 22,000 tonnes of carrots per year and saving on the transport of 4000 plus tonnes of dirt by keeping the soil on site.
Washing and the storage of carrots prior to road transport makes this build one of a kind to suit this client’s site and operation. The facility features settling of its wash water for reuse and compliments the Pye Group’s existing carrot wash in Winchester which was also designed for site specific operations.
The collaboration between Thompson and the client is what makes this project a success – both parties working together on a design that’s fit for purpose, refining ideas and resulting in a finished product they both can be proud of.
Precast panels and on site concrete ensure this building’s durability and many years to come of carrot washing.
