Winslow Haybarn

Straw storage for resale and further processing is the primary purpose for this new haybarn which has been constructed by Thompson in Winslow near Ashburton. The haybarn has plenty of span and height with the finished structure consisting of UC legs and web trusses.

Standing 11.5m tall at the apex, over 20m wide and 40m long, this hay cover can shelter over 30,000 standard hay bales when packed to the gunnels. It is an impressive sight from State Highway One, even from 250 meters away.

A quick turn-around from initiation to completion totalling around four months brought the project in ahead of schedule, enabling the client to shelter produce prior to any major rain disruption.

This project once again highlighted what can be achieved with a motivated client, great systems in place, and well cultivated relationships with local government authorities all working together to achieve efficient development. Oh, and a fantastic window of Mid-Canterbury weather didn’t hurt the cause either. A pleasing result for both our team and our client.
