Haybarn and Workshop

Under the mountains, far from the urban sprawl stand two robust structures commanding respect from a rugged environment. Craig Thompon’s station at Lees Valley in the foothills, 30 kilometres from Oxford became home to a lockable workshop and large haybarn during early 2019.

Construction built to last and a no stress approach is why Craig Thompson decided to stick with his own, building with Thompson. “The success of this project is down to a swift time frame, all thanks to the ease of kitset and prefab construction” says Thompson.

Making the trek into Lees valley is no easy feat but the winding roads eventually open into an isolated oasis. As beautiful as it might be, this backcountry is known for its rougher climate. A haybarn that can contain plenty of feed is integral to surviving the colder months and this haybarn is no exception.

With an iron Coloursteel exterior, it has the capacity to hold 600 bales. In a location as remote as this, the longevity of a farm building is paramount but this haybarn is built to last with steel web trusses to allow for snow loading and steel legs to ensure no rotting or twisting.
