Project
A significant tank farm is taking shape at Timaru’s Port, for bulk storage and distribution of fuel and is scheduled for completion in March 2020. The magnitude of this build has been a great addition to the Thompson portfolio as their vast experience continues to grow across a number of ever-increasing sectors.
Thompson involvement has predominantly consisted of concrete and precast panel supply, installation and footings along with tank ring beam foundations, concrete pavements for loadout and fire manifold buildings. The panels created by Thompson work in conjunction with HDPE liners to create bunds which contain any spills.
A project of this scale involves many groups of contractors who in this build have worked together efficiently ensuring exceptional quality and deadline requirements achieved with success. The client’s on site representative stated that they “haven’t worked before on a project in this field with so few hassles”.
Initial stages for this complex project commenced during August 2018 and during that time Thompson Construction have proved their capability with fuel infrastructure.
The tank farm is a welcome addition to Timaru’s Port and will significantly benefit trade volume in the district.
