Project
The Thompson team had a treat through the opportunity to work within one of our country’s great landscapes deep within the Mackenzie Country when building a new shed at Irishman Creek Station.
This iconic part of the New Zealand landscape has historical links to Bill Hamilton, one of New Zealand’s great industrial pioneers’. Bill is fondly remembered as the founder of the famous Hamilton Jet. The Thompson team had a unique opportunity to be guided through this historical site by the current owner John Rietveld. To see the original workshops was both interesting and a privilege. As ‘steel’ men (and women) knowing we were adding one of our buildings to this history is something we are very proud of. John Rietveld is as passionate about the history of the property as we were are about our buildings, so working together was easy.
Irishman Creek’s new deer shed provides an undercover space to work, creating a calm environment for the deer during velveting, in return making this task a lot easier for both the people and the animals.
The floor has been well designed in this area to funnel away all the deer waste and provides for a quick and easy clean up during a floor wash-down.
The enclosed workshop area is an excellent secure place for all those maintenance jobs and the open bay implement area keeps the gear out of the elements.
We have built multiple deer sheds over the years for great people in some great locations, and this project certainly is a reflection of all those projects.
